When and where is Plein Air Madeira?

June 20–27, 2027 — 8 days and 7 nights on Madeira Island, Portugal, based at The Views Baía Hotel in Funchal. Madeira is a lush, volcanic island in the Atlantic, often called the ‘Hawaii of Europe.’
Who is this workshop for?

All skill levels, from first-time plein air painters through working professionals. Non-painting partners are welcome too, with dedicated packages.
What if I’ve never painted plein air before?
+
Kimball’s instruction is geared to every level. Just be familiar with your own supplies and equipment so you can pack them for travel — we’ll guide you on everything else.
What’s included in my registration?
+
8 days and 7 nights of hotel accommodation, daily breakfast, most lunches and dinners, all ground transport including airport transfers, on-location painting days, demos and individual critiques, plus the included excursions.
How do payments and refunds work?
+
Hold your seat with a $1,000 deposit — fully refundable for 30 days, after which $500 is non-refundable. The deposit holds your place for 90 days, and the balance can be paid across three installments.
Do I need a visa or to speak Portuguese?
+
US travelers don’t need a visa — just a passport and the ETIAS authorization. Most locals speak English, so Portuguese isn’t required.
